Middletons was one of the UK's largest mobility retailers, operating a national network of in-home sales specialists helping customers find scooters, powerchairs and daily living aids suited to their needs. With a large field sales team across multiple regions, maintaining consistent quality across recruitment was a permanent operational challenge.

The Challenge

Middletons had grown rapidly on the back of their unique showroom and in-home sales model, but rapid growth brought a familiar challenge: high attrition. To sustain their expansion, they needed to scale their direct sales team from 4 to 40 within a year — an ambitious target that demanded more than volume hiring. They needed a recruitment partner who understood the specific profile of a successful mobility sales consultant — someone who could operate empathetically in customers’ homes while hitting commercial targets — and could deliver candidates who would stay in role and perform consistently.
